My Work
Carol Parish is a writer, editor and accomplished communications strategist with two decades of experience in journalistic writing, message development and public policy advocacy.
Wrote history of women in the GA that was published by the Office of the North Carolina Secretary of State and distributed to North Carolina libraries. Byline is Carol Hammerstein (former name).
Wrote article as Director of Communications and Policy about a visit to Inter-Faith Food Shuttle by state lawmakers. Organized, drafted talking points for speakers, gave opening remarks for the event.
Led communications strategy for predatory payday lending. Developed message points earning high rates in surveys. Wrote press releases, designed fact sheets, filmed & edited video. Won legislative campaigns and ballot measures that stopped predatory payday lending.
Led communications strategy during advocacy for equity in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Earned media in dozens of additional outlets during campaign, winning administrative reform of PPP policies.
Developed online campaign “Keep Your Balance” educating consumers on banks abusive financial practices. Produced guide and video.

Served as producer for film on student debt for HBCU students, oversaw development of website, entered film successfully in a dozen festivals across the country.
Wrote and produced video explaining the bank overdraft abuse of reordering transactions to pump up overdraft fees.
